Ableton 10 Not Responding

Ableton says 'not responding' all of a sudden every set. It seems to only have started when I started using Spire on more channels. Does that simply mean my computer sucks too much? It will say 'not responding' whenever I try to open a new set up to 10 mins, and then it will load.

hi everybody, here is my problem:
  • Re: Midi Keyboard Not Responding - Desperately Need HELP. On a Windows machine always always always plug audio and MIDI devices into the same USB port every single time. Otherwise, Windows sees it as a new device. After the registry has a certain number of devices it will not register any more. This can cause the problem you are seeing.
  • 'Live is not responding' If Live shows as 'not responding' and fails to launch, it could be an issue with a connected device. Shut down the computer. Disconnect all USB/Firewire/Thunderbolt devices (audio interface, hub, external drives, printer).
it has happened to me that im working on Ableton (either alone or rewired into Logic and while playback of the track, there is suddenly NO sound. the instrument and audio tracks show that theres sound coming from them (in their individual volume meters), but in the master there is no signal level movement at all. So for some reason it is suddenly muted. Ableton 10 Not Responding
any ideas why this might be happening?

Ableton won't record

Ableton 10 Not Responding To Text

  • So I am having an issue trying to record in Ableton. I have MLR AES rewired in to ableton. I have 6 separate tracks for each MLR track. When I arm all the tracks and the record button and play a song it looks like it's recording. WHen I try to play it back though there is no sound though.
I am fairly new to ableton but I can record just fine using press cafe or polygome so I know how to record just fine with other setups. Has anyone else had tis issue?

  • Is the 'audio input' on your tracks in Live set to the correct tracks coming from MLR? The tracks need to be set right to be 'listening' for the audio coming from Max.

  • I believe so. I have the 6 channels set up. Channels 3/4, 5/6, 6,7, 8/9, 10/11, 12/13 are the inputs from max that the MLR tracks are playing through. I can hear everything just fine as well as put effects on the separate tracks no problem.

  • Make sure the monitor buttons on each track in ableton are set to 'in' if they're set to auto, you'll hear it, but not be able to record.

  • @Auditory Canvas
Thanks, that was my problem. I didn't realize it had to be on 'auto' to hear the recording. I don't think that is the case with midi recordings. I knew it was something simple like that!

  • Cool, glad you got it working. Now and later (2009 torrent.

  • Ahh, I've had that problem myself before. Good tip. I need to write this down so I don't forget the next time it happens to me.
